Day One With My Magic Mouse

Day one was pretty nice.  I am loving this mouse.  It is definitely an upgrade from my not so “mighty mouse”.

Ok, so I order the mouse on the 15th of December, and get my tracking saying that it will arrive on the 18th.

Turns out I got it today!  Fedex rocks! (today is the 17th…in case you didn’t see the date of this post)

Anyway…I unbox the mouse and everything is awesome.

The mouse synced flawlessly with my (yes very old) power pc mac mini running Mac OS X 10.5.8

So…I search for updates for the mouse…since the scrolling and such is not working.  Of course, an update pops up and well….I install it.  Everything works perfectly except the “momentum scrolling” doesn’t work.

I find though that I want more gestures than just “Scrolling 360, zooming while holding Control, and swiping”.  I then refer to my good ol friend google to lead me to some cool software.

I find out about “BetterTouchTool”….but find that it doesn’t work on my old power pc.

So I continue my search and find MouseWizard (http://www.samuco.net/web/node/23)

I try the demo/trial and it works perfectly.  I like what I see…so end up buying the software for $2.50 (fairly cheap).

So Now I have a few more gestures (just enough so I’m not overwhelmed by the touch controls)

I then want to find out how to enable momentum scrolling on my 10.5.8 mac….and go on another google search.

So now I’m set!  I’m so happy I got this mouse.  We’ll see how happy I am about it in the next week or so.  8)
